Amid discussions within the BJP regarding the formation of the new government in Delhiroyal circle club, the party is considering the possibility of appointing two deputy chief ministers to present the capital as a mini India.

As per reports, this proposal is seen as a way to ensure representation for MLAs from various castes, communities, and regional backgrounds, according to some party leaders. "It’s quite likely, as this approach has been used in other states, such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, where deputy chief ministers have been appointed to balance diverse leadership," said one leader to PTI.

The national leadership is still evaluating the proposal, which will ultimately be decided upon once the chief minister and other ministers are finalized.

The pace of government formation is expected to accelerate after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his overseas trip over the weekend. A BJP legislative party meeting is planned for Sunday, where the leader of the House, who will be the new chief minister, will be elected, party leaders confirmed.

In his speech at the BJP headquarters following the party's landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the symbolic importance of Delhi, calling it a reflection of "mini" India.

“BJP leaders from various communities—Punjabis, Sikhs, Purvanchalis, Uttarakhandis, Vaishyas, Jats, and others—have now become MLAs, and it’s essential to reflect this diversity in our government,” said a senior Delhi BJP leader.

The proposal to have two deputy chief ministers would help facilitate this inclusion, the leader added.

CM Faces

Several names are being discussed as potential contenders for the Chief Minister's post, including Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat, former Delhi BJP chiefs Vijender Gupta and Satish Upadhya, as well as senior leaders like Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pawan Sharma, Ashish Sood, Rekha Gupta, and Shikha Rai. Newly elected MLAs such as Karnail Singh and Raj Kumar Bhatia are also being considered.

A senior party leader noted that if the BJP's new chief minister hails from one community, the deputy chief minister positions could help balance representation from others—such as women, Sikhs, Jats, or Banias—whose support was crucial to the party’s victory.

Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta stated that the new BJP government in Delhi would soon establish the Sixth Delhi Finance Commission, a body that has been pending for four years. "The financial condition of Delhi's Municipal Corporations has deteriorated due to the delay in forming the Commission," Gupta said.

South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri assured that the BJP government would function with full cooperation and coordination with the Lieutenant Governor.
